The latest from Upland BlueVenn with our 2021.2 update
We’re pleased to bring you our second update of the year, which includes features to make our platform easier to use and more interactive than ever before. Now you’ll be able to target your Instagram audience with more precision, not to mention your Eloqua mailing list. You can draw data from Shopify and NetSuite to enrich your customer 360 view, verify postal addresses quickly using Experian, and quickly compare the value of campaign segments using new tabs. Meanwhile, new task completion and warning notifications will help to ensure your campaigns are running smoothly at all times. To find out more about what’s new, read on.
Omnichannel Marketing Hub new features
New Eloqua channel
This new channel will allow Oracle Eloqua users to send BlueVenn audience data to the Eloqua program, allowing you to send the right emails to the right people to encourage a high response rate.
New Instagram Audience channel
This new channel allows you to make the most of BlueVenn’s outstanding analytics and segmentation capabilities to configure a targeted campaign or selection to create your Instagram audience. This means that you can define the parameters of your audience within BlueVenn, but execute the advertising campaign itself on Instagram. If you’re already using our Facebook Custom Audience Channel, this works the same way, and supports the matching of individuals not only by email address, but optionally phone number, first name, last name, country and postal code too.
Task reports and notifications
Keeping track of your campaigns, and making sure important stakeholders are able to do the same, just got easier.
Our new Task Run Report means you can track the status of any campaign, cascade, or selection export within your system, whether it is scheduled, running, or complete. You can also pick a date range and type of object that you’d like to be displayed in the report, not to mention choose whether you’d like to see only the status of historical tasks completed within a defined period, or a full view of all completed and scheduled tasks.
In addition, it is now possible to automate an email or SMS to an “external” campaign sponsor, without access to BlueVenn Engage, so that they will be informed when a campaign or task has been successfully completed.
Priority matrix improvements
We’ve made it easier to compare the value of different customer segments and decide which to direct campaigns to by including an interactive set of tabular reports. This provides extra visibility into how many records are included in each segment and criteria selection. Two tabs have been added, to make the decision process even clearer:
- A “Totals” tab, displaying the maximum number of records a campaign will go to when a segment and certain criteria are combined.
- A “Segments” tab, allowing you to select the segment you want to know more about and view a breakdown of available records by priority.
Records can be dragged out of each tab for analysis or audience creation, and the information can also be exported to a text file, so it can be shared, compared, or considered with minimal fuss.
Dependency management improvements
Anyone who’s ever worked with an Excel spreadsheet will appreciate the value of our next feature! In every campaign, certain components (such as field lists) relate to multiple objects. Should they be deleted without due consideration, this action can cause errors and issues elsewhere in the system, and potentially stop campaigns from running.
We have now created a warning system, whereby a notification will be sent whenever BlueVenn spots potential issues related to deleting these fundamental components. It is possible to override such a warning, of course, but that is not recommended, and if that warning is ignored the action will be logged (so it will be possible to identify the root cause of any resulting error).
It’s also now possible to display the tree of column dependencies on the “Properties” tab, so that you can see which campaign objects depend on others. Both functionalities make it much easier to manage vital components of campaigns.
Dedupe step improvements
Now you can take control of refining your campaign audience with new, simple prioritization options on dedupe steps used to filter out excess data and reduce marketing costs.
It’s always been possible to select a field by which to filter out duplicates, such as address ID, to make sure individuals at an address don’t receive more than one catalog or offer per campaign.
Now, you can add a prioritization field and sort order to narrow the options and ensure, for example, that just one person per household receives marketing materials (the software will choose the one with the highest income by default). That way you won’t end up distributing four expensive catalogs to the same house, and will be able to optimize direct mail budgets and impact.
Channel management improvements
Sometimes, campaigns involve many different channels, used for the storage of materials, for collaboration or for asset sharing. A recent BlueVenn project involved the creation of 50 very similar channels, a process that can be laborious.
Now, we’ve added the ability to click on a channel and select “copy” to create a new, duplicate channel. Of course, it’s very unlikely that you’ll want two absolutely identical channels (something that could get confusing), so copies are disabled by default, allowing you the opportunity to check and amend the configuration of the new channel prior to activation.
After creation, you can test your new channels using our new “Validate Channel”, to check the configuration properties and make sure everything is working before you try to run a campaign. If you test it, it will try to use the name, password, and a simple action and let you know whether that’s been successful before you attempt to use it actively.
Customer data management new features
New Shopify connector
The addition of a Shopify Connector lets you easily ingest data from an existing Shopify Account into the BlueVenn Unify platform. You can therefore add that vital eCommerce data to the Single Customer View, to help you build a more comprehensive picture of your customers’ preferences and previous purchases. The Shopify eCommerce connector requires an API key, password, and shop URL to establish a connection.
New NetSuite connector
The addition of a NetSuite connector similarly gives you access to any critical customer data held in your NetSuite ERP account while working in BlueVenn Unify. You’ll therefore be able to pull in product, financial, CRM, and purchase information to enrich your Single Customer View and enhance your campaign personalization and segmentation capabilities.
Experian batch web service integration
We have upgraded our Experian Batch Service Console to achieve improved performance speed when working with local data. In fact, we have improved the processing speed for 1 million records to less than 10 minutes!
The Experian batch service runs address verification and cleansing to consistently improve the quality and accuracy of your customer data, in whichever region you target across 150 countries.
SAR data classification
When running a subject access request (SAR), it is now possible to select certain properties within the profile header for exclusion from that report by checking a tick-box. This makes it possible to select the data that the customer needs to see as part of a SAR request but remove any system information or internal information not required, such as product cost data or a miscellaneous ID number.
By default, this exclusion option is disabled if the “exclude from SAR” check box is not ticked. It is imperative to take laws and regulations, such as GDPR, into account when using this feature and avoid hiding any person-related data, to ensure compliance with requests.
